If you are a hot club or lounge in NYC, then you need to make sure your head bouncer understands how to run a tough door, and “select” who gets in. The Darwin theory of survival of the fittest should be practiced with New York nightlife. Binn at 1Oak runs the hottest door since Bungalow, and I have to admit he does an excellent job in making sure the girl to guy ratio is excellent, and the crowd is gorgeous. If I ever open a lounge, he would be my first hire, because his look and attitude are exactly what makes the club so desirable to the “elite” of New York.
After a long day of shooting on the set of Salt, I was looking forward to unwinding so I met Radio Babe, TJ, Samantha Jones, and a couple of her girlfriends at their condo on Wall Street. We had a few drinks, and decided to go pre-game at Pop Burger in the meatpacking district. This gave me an opportunity to “feel out” one of the girls I had just met, since she was extremely attractive with dark hair, single, and my type. She was dressed in all black with a gold-studded belt. Radio Babe knew I would like her, and told her “Arthur will love you!” She was intelligent and witty, and as we continued to get to know each other throughout the course of the night, I became more intrigued and decided I may take her out to dinner if the night went well. I could tell that she was interested in me as well by how flirtatious she was and the fact she was constantly touching me.
When we arrived at 1Oak, we bypassed the line, but had two extra guys that we had picked up at Pop Burger. Binn looked at me, and asked whom I was with; I pointed at the girls and TJ, and he started walking us in until he saw the extra guys. He said there were too many guys, and would let me in with the girls, but not with the guys. I agreed with this course of action, and said “That’s how to run the door”, and I appreciated that he was keeping up the integrity and reputation of the club, so once the guys left, we walked in and partied until 5 AM. The only hitch was that the girl that I liked somehow pissed Binn off during initial deliberation and he refused to let her in, but she finally apologized so he allowed her to pass through.
We had an amazing night, and the more I spoke to her, the more substance and intelligence I was able to observe. I sensed a great deal of culture and education, and she actually made me smile when she told me how prudish she was with men. She also indicated that she had just ended a 2 and a half-year disfunctional relationship, and didn’t want to feel like one of my new “groupies”. This term surprised me, so I told her that I thought she was “cool”, and that she could be a “Kade-ette” anytime (assuming she passes the interview process), which made her laugh and brought her defenses down. I think she appreciated my goofy charm and ability to make fun of myself, and finally felt comfortable allowing me in. We decided to grab dinner next weekend when I return to the city to continue filming Salt.
The places you go, the people you see, I think if I scanned your music collection it would consist of “Now thats what I call Shite vol 83″
You obviously have no taste in music, or you would be going to more underground clubs, and hanging with cooler people, where the Music is the reason to be there, and a shared love of it.
Instead you hang out at commercial/RnB/hiphop venues……..hang on! Do exactly what you do and STAY AWAY from the Cool Clubs, tou Talent Vacuum!
I am going to have a chat with Binn and the guys who own OAK and Butter. I mean we all know Butter is a total disaster and the OAK has fallen WAY down from what it used to be, but if they are letting trash like you in (even though they turned away half of your party and you ditched them like the classy guy you are), then maybe it’s time to shutter the place.
LMAO! I just texted Binn and hazed him for letting this tool in. Too funny…

I’ve been to 1Oak many a times with my native NYC friends and although i think i have attractive friends- I am not sure we fall in the same category as Bar, Halle, Charlize, and Jessica Biel (we might be a bit below- therefore not worth speaking about or even having as a friend) Thus not a great accomplishment to go to 1Oak, by any means- any moderately attractive person is allowed in. BTW- so Bar and Jessica Biel aren’t good enough for you but are good enough for Justin Timberlake and Leo DiCaprio? im puzzled…
