In the 80’s, there was no bigger teenage star then Kirk Cameron! As the Golden Globe Nominated actor who played “Mike Seaver” on the groundbreaking sitcom “Growing Pains”, Kirk was on the cover of every major magazine and on the wall of every bedroom of every teenage girl in America appearing in Tiger Beat, Teen Beat, 16 and others. He even starred in a 60-second Pepsi commercial during Super Bowl XXIV! He has appeared in hit movies, including Like Father, Like Son with Dudley Moore and the top grossing 2008 Indie movie of the year “Fireproof”, and along the way became a born again Christian who is also an active evangelical Christian Evangelist, currently partnering with Ray Comfort in the evangelical ministry The Way Of The Master, and has co-founded The Firefly Foundation with his wife, actress Chelsea Noble, whom he met on the set of “Growing Pains” while she played his TV girlfriend and they have 6 children. Camp Firefly is a one of kind experience which gives terminally ill children and their families a free week’s vacation and a wonderful organization.
Camp Firefly wants to bring laughter back into the lives of those dealing with medial issues or terminal illness….for parents, families and children to have fun and connect with each other, drawing strength from one another and finding hope for the future. Camp Firefly began when Chelsea Cameron met young sick children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Touched by these children and their families, Kirk and Chelsea decided to create an unique experience of Camp Firefly. The camp has been in operation for 20 years. Kirk and Chelsea still staff it with their family and friends and have hosted families from around the country.
Now Kirk has released a DVD called “Monumental”, which he stars in, directed, and produced, in which he decides to look at the foundation of America to find ways to better it’s future for both his children, as well as others around the world. The documentary has attracted tremendous press and attention, and here is the synopsis from it’s website linked here.
“Monumental is the story of America’s beginnings. Presented, produced, and starring Kirk Cameron, the 90-minute true story follows this father of six across Europe and the U.S. as he seeks to discover America’s true “national treasure” – the people, places, and principles that made America the freest, most prosperous and generous nation the world has ever known.
Monumental is heralded as “inspiring,” “beautifully executed,” “powerful,” and “one meant to teach.”
Long regarded as “the land of opportunity,” there’s no question the tiny band of religious outcasts who founded this country hit upon a formula for success that went way beyond what they could have imagined. How else can you explain the fact that they established a nation that has become the best example of civil, economic and religious liberty the world has ever known?
What formula did they discover? What motivated them to come here in the first place? More importantly, how can we apply these same foundational truths today?
Take your family on a new adventure to discover the true national treasure of America”
Here “The King Of Kamelot” sits down with one of his teenage idols, Kirk Cameron, before his media blitz in NYC, appearing on NBC’s Today Show, Fox And Friends, Fox’s Hannity, CNN’s Starting Point, and more, to talk about his documentary “Monumental”, why he felt he wanted to make the engaging and thought provoking film, what it was like being one of the biggest stars in Hollywood in the 80’s and 90’s, what it was like to move in a more Faith based direction from Mainstream Hollywood, how young Kirk compares to current Kirk, finding “America’s Secret Sauce”, and soo much more!! Kirk couldn’t have been nicer and more humble in person, and his passion for children and family is truly inspiring. Enjoy Kade Nation!
