The genre of “Funk” does not exist without George Clinton! In fact, when you talk about being one of the most significant, pioneering, innovative, and revolutionary musical minds of a generation for R&B, Hip-Hop, and Fusion Rock, then George Clinton is certainly on that Rushmore along with James Brown and Sly Stone.  George Clinton’s music and sound is timeless, and he has become one of the most respected, most sampled, most acclaimed artists of all time constantly recognized by current/past music superstars like Kanye West, Jay-Z, Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls, Big Boi, Cee-Lo, and soo many more, and in 1997 was rewarded for his momentous achievements with the highest honor a musical artists can achieve, induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, along with his members of “Parliament-Funkadelic”, but what’s absolutely incredible, is that at 71 years “Young”, George is still performing for the masses, making new music, and showing the “Young Bucks how to stay groovy!”.  George Clinton and “P-Funk” aren’t just music, they are a movement, they are history, and it looks like there is no sign of slowing down for this legend!  Check out his website linked here for upcoming tour dates and new music, as well as the legal battles that he is currently fighting to protect artists around the world and their intellectual property, rights, and music (Linked here as well).

Here “The King Of Kamelot” sits down with “The Father Of Funk” after a sold out performance in NYC at B.B. Kings (If you have never seen George and P-Funk live, it’s one of the coolest and most fun shows you will ever see, but be prepared to have sore legs from dancing so much!), to talk about his iconic career, how he is still going strong at 71, how he feels about the evolution of music over the years, who is current favorite artists are, and his feelings about being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame…This may have been a bucket list interview for me Kade Nation so welcome to “The MotherShip”!!
