What can you say about a true pioneer, trend setter, and Pop/Hip-Hop Icon like Sean Paul, that hasn’t been said already? He has won or been nominated for pretty much every music award that matters including Grammys, American Music Awards (Best male Artist Beating Out Kanye West and Nick Lachey), Billboard Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, BET Awards, and even MOBO Awards!!! He has sold millions of albums all over the world, had number 1 singles that have helped define a generation and produced some of the most memorable dance hits that have made millions move like “Temperature”, “When You Gonna Give It Up To Me (Featuring Keyshia Cole)”, “Baby Boy (With the incomparable Beyonce’)”, “I’m Still In Love With You”, “Get Busy”, etc.., and collaborated on hit songs with other artists like Rihanna, Jay Sean (Who I just interviewed as well!), Eve, Shaggy, Keyshia Cole, Ziggy Marley, DMX, and soo many more!! He has one of the most distinctive voices, rapping styles, and sounds in all of music, and is a true pioneer of the modern Reggae/Caribbean Fusion Movement (Taking sounds of other pioneers like Bob Marley before him) that has helped create a new genre of crossover mainstream hits that have served as the bridge for some of the biggest artists to come over from the Caribbean and become Mainstream stars like Rihanna and Iyaz…And now outside of being one of the most successful male recording artists of the last 20 years, he has also taken to the producing side to help develop new talent in his homeland of Jamaica to help find the next Sean Paul or Rihanna (If you want an amazing sampling then go Buy “Blaze Fia Riddim”: A compilation of various Reggae Acts by Dutty Rock Productions on Itunes that I have linked here)…Like I said, what can I say about Sean Paul’s budding Icon Career that hasn’t been said already?
There are times in your life when you have to look at the sky and just thank a higher power for how blessed you are to do what you do for a living, and for “The King Of Kamelot”, I am beyond blessed for having the opportunity to grab dinner with Sean Paul (Who is the coolest and most down to Earth guy, and can’t be more humble and appreciative for how special his career has been), his brother Jason (Who is also a sick artist who was featured in his hit song “Hit Em”), his manager Steve (Who is the coolest dude on the planet who throws sick parties in both Kingston on Weds. and NYC on Thursday called “Brand New Machine Global” where he hosts avant-garde events highlighting local fashionistas, climbing photographers, and DJ sets from international music talents like Diplo (Major Lazer) to Bob Sinclar, and who helped set up and coordinate the interview for me as well as invited me to dinner and made me feel like one of the fam), and Julie from Atlantic Records (Thanks again for Din, you are awesome!!). After talking about everything imaginable at dinner including their bike riding through NYC (Check out the vids and all his other music and lifestyle stuff on his site ALLSEANPAUL.COM linked here) to the current state of hip hop, we then went back to the green room before his concert and did this amazing intimate interview where Sean Paul even sings some of his new hit single “Got 2 Luv U” featuring the amazingly gorgeous and talented Alexis Jordan (She is the next breakout Pop Star for 2012 who was runner up in America’s Got Talent at 14 years old and then went on to sign with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation from there and create a great debut self titled album). An enormous thank you as well to Joe and Max at Q102 as well who helped me put this together and who are just awesome guys in general…This is one Kade Nation will definitely love!!
And Here is the newly release ridic music video for “Got 2 Luv U” Featuring Alexis Jordan (Buy It on ITunes Here). The video was shot at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, and was directed by Ben Mor. Love this Song!!
