2011 was the year of “Bridesmaids”!  Not only was it one of the funniest and most original movies of our generation, but it helped define a new genre of Ensemble Comedy, and became the female version of “The Hangover”.  It also helped launch the careers of each of it’s stars into a new stratosphere, including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, and my current interviewee Wendi McLendon-Covey who played the hilarious “Rita”!   Bridesmaids was both critically and commercially successful upon its opening release eventually grossing over $288 million worldwide, and become the top-grossing Apatow production to date.  The film received a 90 percent overall approval rating according to Rotten Tomatoes and served as a touchstone for discussion about women in comedy.  It was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and received multiple other accolades. On January 24, 2012, the film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Melissa McCarthy and Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. This made it the first Apatow-produced film to be nominated for an Academy Award.

Wendi McLendon-Covey has quickly become one of Hollywood’s fastest rising names and she has also guest-starred on television series such as The Office, 10 Things I Hate About You, Cougar Town, I Hate My Teenage Daughter and Hot in Cleveland, as well as from 2010 to 2012 she had recurring role on the CBS sitcom Rules of Engagement.  She also just appeared in the hits What To Expect When You’re Expecting and Magic Mike, and her upcoming drama film Claire’s Cambodia directed by Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning Stacy Sherman about three estranged sister dealing with the death of their father.  She also stars in the 2012 comedy pilot Waffle Hut.

Here “The King Of Kamelot” sits down with the hilarious and awesome star of “Bridesmaids” and “Reno 911”, Wendi McLendon-Covey to talk about her wonderful career as an actress and comedian, how Bridesmaids has changed the path of her career, how she became friends with Kristen and the rest of the cast in comedy classes, her experience on Reno 911, her awesome upcoming projects, my HUGE crush on Rashida Jones, and sooo much more!!  Wendi is one of the coolest, most down to Earth, and fun interviews you will ever watch, so enjoy Kade Nation!!!
