It’s pretty cool when you can say that you have sold more then 80 million albums around the world and won every award or lifetime achievement/Icon recognition award in music!!  Or that you are responsible for 10 #1 albums, 34 Top 40 hits,  and 8 #1 songs that have helped define a generation and are still played in constant rotation on radio today such as “Sara Smile”, “I Can’t Go For That”, “She’s Gone”, “Maneater”, and “Private Eyes” (In 2 hours in the car, I heard their songs played 4 different times, and know the words to all of them!!).  And don’t forget that according to Billboard,  you are one half of the greatest selling musical duo of all time, a member of the Songwriters hall of Fame, and that Billboard ranks your group, “Hall and Oates”, as the #15 artist of all time along with artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and so many of the biggest artists that music has ever known.  Most of all, along the way, Hall and Oates pioneered one of the most unique and influential sounds that that musical world has ever seen called “Rock and Soul”, which has influenced so many of the most popular artists today ranging from The Killers to Gym Class Heroes to Method Man to Train, etc (It’s crazy how many artists in hip hop, rap, and rock have sampled Hall And Oates music in their own songs)..But maybe the coolest thing of all was that you closed the most famous and monumental Concert in history, “Live Aid”, on stage with the biggest names in music history like Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Phil Collins, Ozzy Osbourne, Pete Townshend, and the list goes on and on..To say that John Oates is a music legend would be an understatement, so you can only imagine my excitement (I woke up at 5AM that morning and couldn’t go back to sleep because I was so excited!!) to sit down and interview a man that has helped pioneer the direction of music and culture for the last 4 decades (I was purely in awe because this is a man who’s music I am a fan of, my father is a fan of, and even my grandfather is a fan of!!), and who coincidentally is also a Temple alum like yours truly…

Here “The King Of Kamelot” sits down with the icon himself, for an intimate exclusive into his incredible career as one half of “Hall and Oates”, his transition to a successful solo career, the evolution of music and it’s technology, his new album “Mississippi Mile” which has received amazing critic reviews across the board and shows a return to his soulful musical roots, the creation of the truly incredible Aspen Songwriters festival which John is truly passionate about (One of my good friends who maintains a house in Aspen said “It’s one of the most inspiring and fun festivals you will ever attend”) , and one of the greatest moments of my life, getting John Oates to sing one of my favorite songs “Private Eyes” with me (He even does the clap!!)..Sometimes I just gotta just sit back and pinch myself and realized how truly blessed I am…Enjoy Kade Nation!!

And earlier in the day, I had the opportunity to sit down with a truly talented duo in Walt and Jerome of Atlantic Record’s “Straight No Chaser” before their sold out show for 7,000 people at the Bethlehem Musikfest (We did the interview right on stage which was so cool!!), who are the top selling Acapella band in the world, and who’s last 3 albums have all been Billboard Top 50 (For anyone who doesn’t understand how impressive that is for any band let alone an Acapella band, most of the most popular artists of any genre right now do not even achieve that level of sales!), and who were ranked as one of the top 30 grossing tours in the world by Billboard joining names like U2, Taylor Swift, and Kenny Chesney on that list..It’s a great interview discussing their amazing success, tremendous worldwide fan base, humble beginnings at the University of Indiana (They actually serenaded one of my good friends in her dorm there a couple years ago which I showed them a video of that she sent me), and they even sing for me!! Just amazing stuff..
