Sophie B. Hawkins has had one of the sweetest “Janis Joplin-like” voices in music since she broke out with her debut album “Tongues and Tails” which earned her a Grammy Nomination for Best New Artist and featured one of the best songs of all time with “Damn, Wish I Was Your Lover” which was a Billboard Chart Topper, followed by her next album “Whaler” which also had commercial and critical success featuring another classic “As I Lay Me Down”.  Now after a 6 year hiatus, and what critics are referring to as her “Her Best Work Yet”, it looks like Sophie is about to re-explode on to the charts with her incredible new album which will be released on June 19th called “The Crossing” and a sold out tour currently with her next stop at the famed Aspen Songwriters Festival on March 24th hosted by Kade Nation friend John Oates of “Hall and Oates”.

Here “The King Of Kamelot” sits down with one of his favorite artists, to talk about her much anticipated first album in 6 years, what it was like to bust out of the gates like she did with a Grammy Nod for best new artist, why we share the same middle initial, the Broadway musical starring the ultra awesome Kristin Chenoweth she is working on, whether or not I’m Kristin’s type, and soo much more!!  This was such a joy because I LOVE Sophie, and she was just as cool, humble and nice as you would hope for, so enjoy Kade Nation!!

And here is Sophie doing a cover of one of my favorite all time songs by Nina Simone, “Sinnerman” off of her next album “The Crossing”…She sounds soo amazing!!
