Cody Canada spent 15 years as the front man of one of Country Music’s most successful bands, Cross Canadian Ragweed, having album after album chart in the Top 10 of the Billboard Charts. Then in 2010, the band decided to call it quits for a variety of reasons, and Cody and his bass player Jeremy Plato, then formed a new band, Cody Canada And The Departed, which has quickly become one of Country’s hottest acts, and now they are on a co-headlining tour with the red-hot Shooter Jennings, who in the last month has been on various late night shows helping promote the tour. They are selling out shows across the country, and Cody and The Departed have received critical acclaim for their first album “This Is Indian Land”, which has been a hit, and helped propel the new band back to the top of the Country Music World.
Here “The King Of Kamelot” sits down with the long time front man for Cross Canadian Ragweed in NYC, Cody Canada, to talk in detail about the creation of “The Departed”, what it was like dissolving a successful band like CCR and starting over, their “Red Dirt” country music style, why CCR called it quits after 15 years of success, the new album and why it’s the album they “Always wanted to make”, the music renaissance in Stillwater, OK that has influenced the band so much, and sooo much more!! Cody was just great to meet and interview, totally humble, genuine, and easygoing, and one of those guys you can see why fans can connect so easily to him and his music!! Enjoy Kade Nation!!!
