Almost anyone would agree that P.J. Morton is in a great spot in both his music and his life right now, being a member of arguably the biggest and most popular band in the world right now, Maroon 5, as well as being signed as a Grammy winning solo artist signed to what is arguably the most successful record label on the planet right, Lil’ Wayne’s “Cash Money”, but you get the feeling when talking to him that for one of the fastest rising stars in music right now this is truly only the beginning!!  With his debut EP out for Cash Money, “Following My First Mind”, which has opened to rave reviews showing P.J.’s incredible musical diversity and “Soulful Pop” style, and a sold out tour with a appearance on Jimmy Fallon the night before sitting down with me, and Maroon 5’s newest ultra anticipated album, “Overexposed” set to come out in June followed by a year long global tour, it looks like 2012 is shaping up to be a monster year for one of the great music talents in the business right now!!

Here “The King Of Kamelot” sits down with the Grammy Winning Keyboardist/Vocalist of Maroon 5 and Cash Money’s newest music power right after his killer appearance on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” playing with QuestLove and The Roots, to talk about the incredible current ascension of his career, how he got the call that changed his life and made him a member of one of the world’s most successful bands, what is “Soulful Pop”, what it was like to win a Grammy, how his relationship growing up with Mack Maine of Cash Money in New Orleans helped his solo signing, why Cash Money is perhaps the most successful and creative label in music and how he fits in, the special promise that he made to me, and who has the better Afro, me or QuestLove?  It was so fun to sit down with P.J. who is as humble and laid back as can be, and you can truly feel his appreciation for the place that he is in in both his music and his life, while also getting the sense that this is only just the beginning of a brilliant award winning career!
