Mary Mary are unquestionably the current queens of Gospel, having won 3 Grammys, selling millions of albums over the last decade, and watching their albums chart Top 10 consistently on the Billboard 200. Now with their hit show on We TV starting it’s second season, they can add “TV Stars” to that resume! In addition to Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary is widely credited with bringing Gospel music to the mainstream, and having built an incredible fan base of millions, “Mary Mary” on WE TV shows us how hard it was to get to the top, and much harder it is to stay at the top. We see that being sisters, staying relevant, having families, and paving a new road for other artists isn’t easy, and season 2 of the show promises to be another ratings bonanza for the network.
Season two will find the sisters are experiencing the busiest time of their careers. They are promoting their new single “Go Get It,” touring across the U.S. (Joyfest, Gospelfest, Celebrate Brooklyn Concert, Chicago Gospel Music Festival, etc.) and capping their summer by receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Essence Festival alongside Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, and others. From diaper changes and awards ceremonies, to recording studios and school recitals, Erica and Tina’s dual lives pull them in many directions. MARY MARY really spotlights the famous singing sisters, revealing what life is like on the inside of this dynamic duo. Music is a part of every aspect of their lives. Just two years apart from Tina, Erica is the “big sister” and married to the group’s producer, Warryn Campbell. Warryn, a music visionary in his own right, has worked with the likes of Kanye West, Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott, among others. Tina is married to Teddy Campbell, the drummer for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno’s Rickey Minor Band.
Here “The King Of Kamelot” sits down with the face of Gospel music, Tina and Erica Campbell of Mary Mary, to talk about what to expect in Season 2 of their show, what formula has made them so successful in music, how they are able to manage family, business, and drama in their lives, will they or won’t they stay together, the dynamic of being sisters and working together, and soo much more!! They are music pioneers so make sure to watch season 2 of Mary Mary on WE TV debuting December 6th at 10pm!
