When you’re the eldest son of one of Hollywood’s greatest leading men and directors, what do you become when you grow up? Well, you become a critically acclaimed jazz musician and composer of course! That’s the story of Kyle Eastwood, son of the incomparable Clint Eastwood, who has forged an incredible music career for himself becoming a critically acclaimed jazz artist, as well as helping score the soundtracks to many of Clint’s movies (Several of which became Academy Award Winners/Nominees like Million Dollar Baby and Mystic River as well as Flags Of Our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima, Gran Torino, and Invictus.). Growing up in Carmel, CA, Kyle would often go to the Monterrey Jazz Festival with his father. Clint is an outstanding musical talent as well and as Kyle states “What was really great was that being the son of Clint gave me backstage access to all the gigs and I was very fortunate to meet and talk with Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis and all the legends…and began to listen to some of Jazz’s greatest names”. His first memory of playing music was when Clint taught him how to play the left hand bass line of “Boogie Woogie” while he played the right hand solo over the top. Kyle’s various albums have been met with rave reviews, and he has had the ability to work with many of Jazz’s best names both in Europe and America, and now he is out with his newest album, “Songs From The Chateau” which was recorded in the Bordeaux region of France and he is now on a world tour showcasing his newest music.
Here “The King Of Kamelot” sits down with the brilliant young Jazz Mind that is Kyle Eastwood before his sold out show at the famed Highline Ballroom in NYC to talk about his incredible critically acclaimed music career, his newest album “Songs From The Chateau”, what it was like growing up the son of one of Hollywood’s greatest talents, my man crush on his father, the reality show on E! coming out and whether we will see any appearances from him, and soo much more!!
