Jon Huertas’ career spans television, film and music, having been recognized for his work on ABC’s “Castle” with a 2012 ALMA Award nomination. He also starred as the outspoken and gritty Sgt. Antonio Poke Espera in the highly acclaimed, Emmy nominated miniseries Generation Kill, as well as in a number of other TV series, including Prison Break, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, NCIS, CSI and Without a Trace.

Before joining the 12th precinct as a homicide detective, Huertas’ character Detective Esposito served in the Special Forces and was an officer in the Organized Crime Task Force at the 54th precinct. Alongside his partner Detective Ryan, they work tirelessly with Detective Beckett to solve murders and bring killers to justice. Always ready with a sardonic comment, Esposito is a loyal partner and a dedicated cop. Even in the face of adversity, he’s got his game face on and nothing can break him. He may have a bit of a bromance with Ryan but he considers himself quite the ladies man. Despite his constant wise cracks, Esposito is very intuitive and has always recognized the romantic tension between Beckett and Castle.

Huertas recently made a transition from working in front of the camera to working behind it, producing and directing film and music videos, as well as web-based media. One of his first ventures was co-producing The Insatiable, starring Sean Patrick Flanery and Michael Biehn and distributed through THINKFilm. Since then Huertas has built an impressive catalog of projects, from Neil LaBute’s After School Special to the feature documentary Ricky, currently in production.

An East Coast native and trained in musical theatre, Huertas is a military veteran who served for eight years before transitioning to professional acting. His resume is evidence of determination, artistic range, patriotism and philanthropy. He serves on the board of the non-profit Puppies Behind Bars (, where prison inmates train service dogs for wounded veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI and Physical injury. He also currently holds the position of SAG-AFTRA Hollywood Division Board Member, and is acting Chairman of the SAG-AFTRA Armed Forces Support Task Force.

On June 11th, Jon Huertas also released his CD “Grown and Sexy Music”. A mix of club dance tracks and R&B/pop, “Grown & Sexy Music” was co-produced and co-written by Huertas and Grammy-nominated songwriter/producer Christian Davis. Lead single “Ledge of Love,” based on the love story between “Castle” lead characters Beckett and Castle, was released last November. A five-song EP titled Sex Tape (featuring a new version of earlier single “Sex Is the Word”) and new single “Champion” were made available on April 2 exclusively on
