In the last few years, Cavo have been a musical force to be reckoned with. In 2009, the band released their sophomore effort and major label debut, Bright Nights Dark Days. With their fresh brand of alternative rock, Cavo catapulted to stardom. The album hit #47 on the Billboard Top 200. The singles “Champagne” and “Crash” ruled the rock radio airwaves, and “Let It Go” was featured on the soundtrack of the blockbuster film Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen. For the last 3 years, the band has been touring and writing new music for the much anticipated follow-up, Thick As Thieves, which is due out on April 10th via Eleven Seven Music. I got to talk to bassist Brian Smith about the new album, and their upcoming tour dates and festival appearances. Afterwards, I stuck around for the show. First time seeing Cavo live, and they killed it! They played all the hits, including one of my personal favorites, “Blame.” They also previewed a couple songs from the new record, and they sounded awesome! I’m really pumped for this new album! As for Brian, he’s certainly one of the true bass talents in rock music today. Varying his styles throughout the show, he capped it all off with a killer solo mid-way through the band’s set. To all you Thieves out there: get your Cavo tickets now, and make sure you catch them at the most epic rock show of the year, Rock On The Range 2012 in Ohio. Oh, and don’t forget to stealthily sneak down to your local records store, and pick up your copy of Thick As Thieves on April 10th, ’cause Cavo CRANKS IT UP!
