When it comes to Maternity wear, Liz Lange is perhaps the Christopher Columbus of creating fashion that has made everyone from Kelly Ripa to Cindy Crawford to Julia Roberts to the everyday woman look sexy, modern, and feel great about such a special time in their lives.  After working as an editor at Vogue Magazine, Liz became armed with the philosophy that women should look and feel beautiful during pregnancy, and became the first designer to create clothing that was more fitted and fashion forward for pregnant women, which led to her becoming the premiere stylist to the stars (We joke in the interview that she was “Rachel Zoe before Rachel Zoe”), and the creation of “Liz Lange Maternity” which grew from an appointment only store on Lexington Avenue, all the way to Flagship stores on Madison Ave, Long Island, Beverly Hills, and the exclusive Maternity Line offered at Retail behemoth, Target!!  She is the only maternity designer to have shown at New York Fashion Week, once in 2001, and again in 2004 and is also the only maternity designer to be a member of the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America.   In 2001, Nike approached Lange to create the Liz Lange for Nike line of maternity active wear to be sold in both Lange’s boutiques and through Nike’s retail channels and to this day, Lange is the only fashion designer that Nike has ever asked to design licensed product for them.  Liz Lange is one of the most trailblazing fashion entrepreneurs of the last several decades and shows no signs of slowing down while working on a  book about Entrepreneurship (Her first book was “Liz Lange’s Maternity Style: How To Look Fabulous During The Most Fashion Challenged Time”) which will no doubt be a bestseller, as well growing her first ever non- maternity clothing collection, “Completely Me by Liz Lange” which debuted exclusively on HSN. She is also the co-founder of the popular woman’s shopping site, Shopafrolic.com with her sister Jane (It really is an amazing site!!), and is actively involved in many charities and is spokesperson for cervical cancer awareness in NYC.
